Roberta Kalmar, LMSW, is a Licensed Master Social Worker.
She holds the position of Director of Social Work for a New York State adoption agency which is also Hague accredited.
Ms. Roberta Kalmar is approved by New York State Supreme Court Appellate Division to conduct Adoption Home Studies in New York.
Ms. Kalmar has conducted Adoption Home Studies for New York residents and prepared reports for over 30 years using her extensive knowledge of and experience with United States Immigration and Naturalization Service, the Hague Convention, private agencies, New York Courts dealing with adoption and private attorneys. She has counseled expectant mothers and birth families helping them understand the options that are available to them and encouraging them to discuss their concerns.
She accepts referrals from adoption attorneys, lawyers specializing in family law and members of the legal profession as well as adoption agencies and human relations departments and the Courts. Many of Roberta Kalmar's prospective adoptive families come to her through referrals of other couples and singles she has worked with throughout the years.
Roberta Kalmar has volunteered in an orphanage in Ethiopia, traveled with clients to meet their child in their country for the first time, toured an AIDS orphanage in Guatemala and visited a state orphanage in Vietnam for healthy children and special needs youngsters.
Her Humanitarian Aid efforts have included orphanages in Cambodia, Vietnam and Guatemala.
Roberta Kalmar is the mother of an adult son of Colombian-Puerto Rican ancestry.
Ms. Kalmar is the author of adoption articles which can be found on the web. She is also the editor of Child Abuse: Perspectives on Diagnosis, Treatment and Prevention.
