Pakistanis are granted guardianship according to Muslim law by Pakistan Courts.
Pakistani/American families who want to rear a Pakistani infant orphan from their country are increasingly doing so under the rules of the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services. The number of Pakistani orphan children granted visas in America since 1998 has steadily grown and has given much hope to formerly childless couples.
Some facts:
-
- The adoptive family must be Muslim.
- One member of the family must be of Pakistani heritage.
- Adoptive couples must be married for a minimum of three years.
- Adoptive couples must be childless.
- Some Muslim singles may be granted guardianship.
- Upon taking custody of their child, families are advised to secure a medical examination to address health issues of small birth weight or malnourishment and to see how they and the child interact.
- In order to adopt, families must receive pre-approval from the USCIS (United States Department of Immigration and Citizenship Services) and obtain the form, "Application for Advance Processing of Orphan Petition."
- An Adoption Home Study conducted by our Director of Social Work experienced in adoption home studies from Pakistan meets all requirements you will need for the USCIS and New York State Courts.
Our Adoption Home Study department is pleased to congratulate the three Pakistani families that brought their infants home to New York in 2007-2008.
